The group Electric Bedouin is a “sister project” to Buddy Mohmed’s group American Bedouin. The group explores the sonic possibilities of the electrified vibraphone (a.k.a. vibes, vibraharp) and the seven string bass in a world-rock-jazz fusion trio format.
Dana uses a piezoelectric pickup system on the vibraphone and guitar effects, to create new sonic space for the vibes to occupy. This allows the vibes to sound similar to a guitar, organ, synthesizer, or bizarre instrument. Buddy uses a seven string Conklin bass guitar, the way only he can, to complete the melody and harmony.
To date, the group has performed at Denton Arts and Jazz Festival, at various venues in the Dallas/Forth Worth area, and at house concerts.
Their first self titled release was recorded in January of 2015. You can purchase it through CDBaby using the link below. The album features all original compositions by Buddy Mohmed and Dana Sudborough, They are currently working on a second release.
